Climate Change and Agriculture: Surveying Impact and Adaptation Strategies by Farmers in Konkan

This project aims to gain a comprehensive understanding of how climate change is affecting agriculture in the Konkan region. The survey, which involved more than 1,000 farmers, examined the various components of climate change, such as changing rainfall patterns, temperature fluctuations, and extreme weather events, and their impact on local farming practices.

Additionally, the project explores the adaptation measures that farmers are employing to cope with these changes, as well as the challenges they face in implementing such measures. By identifying these barriers, the project aims to inform strategies that can enhance the resilience of smallholder agriculture in the region and support farmers in their adaptation efforts.

This project is crucial for developing targeted climate adaptation strategies that will not only benefit Konkan but also contribute to a broader understanding of how to enhance resilience in smallholder agroecosystems. The findings will play an essential role in shaping climate-resilient agriculture practices and ensuring the long-term sustainability of farming in the region.
