The Study of Wild Vegetables and Fruits in Ratnagiri District project focuses on exploring the region’s nutrient-rich wild vegetables and fruits, which are often overlooked despite their significant potential for food security. The project aims to identify these wild plants, assess their nutritional profiles, and promote their use among local communities. Emphasizing the value of chemical-free and climate-adaptive food, the initiative works to raise awareness and cultivate interest in these natural resources, especially among younger generations who may be unfamiliar with traditional foraging practices.
Wild Vegetable Festival is organized annually in schools and colleges, engaging students and creating awareness about the benefits of wild food. Additionally, workshops on wild vegetables are conducted to teach participants about identifying, preparing, and utilizing these unique food sources. By promoting the consumption of wild vegetables, the project aims to improve food security, encourage sustainable eating habits, and foster a deeper connection with nature.
