Promotion of Organic Farming is one of the key initiatives aimed at fostering sustainable agricultural practices in the Western Ghats region. The project focuses on equipping rural farmers with knowledge and skills to switch to organic farming methods, which are environmentally friendly and free of harmful chemicals.
We conduct comprehensive training sessions where farmers learn how to prepare different types of organic manures such as compost, vermicompost, and liquid organic fertilizers like jeevamrit, panchgavya, and bijamrit etc. These organic inputs are used to enrich the soil, improve its fertility, and boost crop growth and yields, ultimately reducing reliance on synthetic fertilizers and pesticides.
In addition to training, we prioritize empowering female farmers, who play a significant role in agriculture in this region. These women are celebrated for their contributions to organic farming, and we provide them with the necessary farming tools and equipment to further support their efforts. By recognizing and supporting female farmers, we aim to promote gender equality in agriculture and strengthen community resilience.
One week certificate courses on Basics of Organic Farming were conducted for providing basic training about organic farming, it’s components, preparation of compost, vermicomposting, Jeevamrut, Panchgavya, bio pesticides etc. Till now more than 7800 participants are benefitted by this program. The project is in collaboration with Athalye-Sapre-Pitre College, Devrukh.
